Paul “Chesty” Williams is the Founder and Director of Lloyd Creek Civil. Many roads in Australia are largely unsealed, comprising of primarily dirt, gravel and/or crushed stone surfaces. Unsealed roads are prone to becoming corrugated. Corrugations on a dirt road form undulating, repetitive ridges and grooves. The action of a vehicle driving over the road at speed increases these corrugations by simultaneously loosening and compacting road material into the well-known corrugated, 'washboard' surface known to many Outback drivers.
